Bands to Watch: Honor in Anarchy; World Demise

Honor in Anarchy

Atlanta residents Honor in Anarchy put out a five-track digital demo EP titled No Covenants in July of 2014, and they hit a professional studio this month to record a new single. No Covenants, for all its DIY-garage-demo sound, shows some genuine potential. The band shows serious musicianship, vocalist Kevin Cruz handles his screaming and clean vocals well, and they have good energy overall. I’d love to see what they manage to pull off in a more professional recording environment, and will be keeping my eye on them to see where they go.

World Demise

World Demise is a rising hardcore band out of Macon. World Demise is unique in that they strive to maintain an altogether positive vibe in their music, without sacrificing the heavy sound endemic to the hardcore genre. They released a surprisingly polished four-track demo in early 2014 on BandCamp, and I can’t recommend it enough. While I do love the rough, hateful kind of stuff in most harder genres, World Demise’s positivity is at times a breath of fresh air, and I can’t wait to see what else they have planned.

"Bands to Watch" is a recurring section from the Macon Metal zine that highlights smaller, newer Georgia bands based on completely arbitrary factors as determined by the editors. The only requirement outside of these arbitrary factors is that the band has only one (1) multi-track release out, whether that release is a demo, EP, or full-length.
